Bastogne Abbey Ale
Bastogne Abbey Ale takes its name from White Labs WLP510 Bastogne Belgian Ale Yeast, itself named for the municipality of Bastogne in the Wallonia region of southern Belgium. The grist is composed entirely of Riverbend Malts, including Pils, Munich Malts, Streaker Oats, Wheat and Melanoidin Malt with a touch of dark candy syrup to finish off this traditional Belgian style. The addition of Crystal hops from Crosby Hop Farm imparts mildly woody and floral complement as the beer opens up. Notes of cherry, fig and bready malts dominate with true-to-style hints of clove and spice intermingled, resulting in a robust ale complex enough to meditate on, but still highly drinkable.
